a battle in the Hay

Hay - Telegraph - Battle of the BandsLast week I received an email from Andy Fryers asking if The Troy Redfern Band would like to play at the Hay Festival Battle of the Bands. We had nothing else on that night and it was just 10 miles up the road so we thought 'why not'...

Well, we had a blast, fantastic stage, great sound crew, met some really cool bands and performers and much to our surprise won the damn thing too 🙂  Managed to get some good video clips from the show which are up on our youtube page... Here's some blurb from the local papers...

Last Thursday saw the first Telegraph Hay Festival Battle of the Bands, where six local bands and solo artists from diverse genres were invited to perform in front of three judges.  The judges were Bethan Elfyn from BBC Radio Wales; Jim Eliot, producer and song writer who has worked with Kylie Minogue, Ellie Goulding, and Olly Murs, amongst others; and Charlie Francis, a producer who has worked with the likes of REM, Traffic and Turin Brakes.

The six acts performed original material and gave stellar performances to a packed audience in the main festival stage.  After much deliberation, the judges announced the winners as the Kington-based Troy Redfern Band, owing to their dynamic, professional and high energy performance.  The band were invited back on stage to play a further three songs to an enthusiastic audience.
